Applications and Nominations Invited for Interim Director of the School of Education

The School of Education invites applications and nominations for interim director in an internal search limited to Cal Poly academic and administrative employees. The interim director will occupy a 12 month position with a three year appointment beginning July 1, 2015, and ending August 31, 2018. The director reports to the dean of the College of Science & Mathematics and is responsible for all aspects of the School of Education including academic programs, student success, recruitment and development of the faculty and staff, personnel actions, strategic planning, organizational structure, and program alignment within the School and the university, professional relationships with the Central Coast area education community and effective use of resources.

Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate from an accredited institution
  • Record of effective leadership
  •  Evidence of ability to work with leaders from private and/or public sectors
  • Record of scholarship, securing grants, and teaching in higher education
  • Effective interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills
  • Strong commitment to inclusivity and diversity
  • Commitment to collaborative and transparent governance

  • A CV with at least three references
  • A 1-3 page letter responding to the following prompt: The School of Education (SOE) is a multi-disciplinary academic unit committed to teachers and other educational professionals for service in K-12 schools, community colleges, university and affiliated education occupations. The faculty and staff from all programs are truly committed to teaching, scholarship and service. We are particularly seeking a leader who will support the SOE with strategic planning, organizational restructuring and program alignment. How will your experiences and expertise support us in these endeavors?
